We're taking a laid-back approach to this year's year-end WhirlyBall event so apologies for the late notice! But we're going with "better late than never" approach here. :)

Always on the prowl for a reason to have a WhirlyBall event, I (Josh) determined years ago that the end of the year provides just such a reason. :) We always have a great time sending out the year with dinner and WhirlyBall--join us again this year or join us for the first time! Come to either dinner or WhirlyBall--or better, come to both! We hope to see you there!

As always, this event is going to be a total blast! The featured part is WhirlyBall which is a game that...well, you have to see to really understand (but see the notes below for info and links). It's a whole lot of silly fun and we know you're going to love it...but let's say you just don't want to give it a try--what then? Come anyway! Ultimately, this isn't a WhirlyBall event, it's a social event. Only 10 people play at a time so more people will be hanging out than playing at any given time. And if you think that playing is fun (and you will), wait until you get a load of others playing.

If you have any questions or otherwise want to get in touch with us, please call or text Josh on his mobile phone at (404) 734-7474 or Kendall on her mobile phone at (404) 304-1311.

Important notes:
  • Invite friends! Everyone is invited whether they know us or not--your friends are our friends! You can send this email to others if you'd like. Please don't assume that we already emailed everyone whom you and we both know--every year we inadvertently leave off people whom we certainly would love to have in attendance. So please, spread the word!
  • Just come! The focus of both dinner and WhirlyBall is to hang out and have fun--you don't have to do any of the stuff (eat or Whirl) if you don't want to; it is completely cool if you want to just come and hang out.
  • Come whenever! Don't worry if you're late! That said, it helps a lot to have you on time for the events because we have a schedule we have to keep (this is particularly true as pertains to WhirlyBall: we are paying for court time, whether we use it or not, so we need enough people there to start on time). But if you can't make it on time, please don't let that stop you from coming. If you have any questions at any point as to whether or not we're still at a particular location, do not hesitate to call us on our mobile phones at the numbers listed above.
Dinner info:
  • What kind of food does Dreamland serve? Southern barbecue. The Brunswick stew and the banana pudding are fantastic. For more info, check out their website.
  • Who is paying? It's dutch treat. In the past we have been able to get separate checks but it wouldn't hurt to have cash just in case--and after all, as noted below, you'll need cash at WhirlyBall anyway. If you don't want to eat, please come and hang out! If your budget won't accommodate a meal out at this time, let us know and we'll treat you!
  • What if I'll be late? That's fine! But call me at (404) 734-7474 or Kendall at (404) 304-1311 to let us know so that we can make sure to hold a place for you.
WhirlyBall info:
  • What is WhirlyBall? Naturally, some of you do not have a clue what WhirlyBall is. You can get the scoop on the game and how to get to the facility on the Whirlyball Atlanta site. And finally, over on good old YouTube you can see a video slideshow of a WhirlyBall outing that I (Josh) did with the Atlanta ColdFusion User Group. You'll see pretty quickly that WhirlyBall is crazy, zany, silly, goofy, and so on and so forth--but that athletic skill and physical exertion are not required!
  • How much will it cost to play WhirlyBall? For those who opt to participate in WhirlyBall, the cost will be $5 per person per game. The teams will be assembled as we go on a game-by-game basis. You may play in as few as one game or as many games as space allows. There are also video games and pool tables to keep you occupied when you're not playing WhirlyBall and of course there will be plenty of people with whom to socialize.
  • Can I pay with a credit card or debit card? No. We will have to collect the payment for all games played and submit it to WhirlyBall as one lump sum. Therefore, it is very important that you bring cash to pay for the games you play.
  • Will refreshments be served at the party? No. However, food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are available at the WhirlyBar.
  • What should I wear? Whatever you want! That said, short skirts are not recommended due to the sitting postion required in a WhirlyBug. WhirlyBall is not a game where you get sweaty from exertion so you don't have to wear athletic gear--but you do move around a good bit while playing WhirlyBall so don't wear something overly confining.
